The Green Business Challenge has identified a number of actions businesses and organizations can take to become more energy efficient, implement more sustainable practices, and improve their bottom line. By making this commitment, your business or organization will help Loudoun County ensure a healthy and sustainable quality of life for all its citizens.

Participation is as easy as – –

1. REGISTER: Fill out the online registration form to join the Challenge.
   Registering for the Challenge will let us know that you are committed to greening your business and will give us the contact information we need to keep you in the loop. When you register, you will create a business profile and will be listed as a participant on the Green Business Directory.

2. COMPLETE SCORECARD: Fill out and save your GBC scorecard.
   After you save your business profile, please click on the “go to dashboard” button. After providing your square footage and number employees and pushing the ”save info” button to make your scorecard appear. You will be directed to a scorecard that is customized to your business type: Home-Based Business, Tenant/Leased Property, or Commercial.  Throughout the Challenge, you can update and save your scorecard as you achieve each action item. Points are awarded based on the number of action items achieved, with an opportunity to earn bonus points and innovation points for practices not already addressed within the scorecard. Achievement awards will be based on business type and the total number of points earned.
    
3. SUBMIT your completed scorecard electronically before the August 30th deadline.
   To submit your scorecard for review, log in to your account and submit your final scorecard. Winners and certification awards will be announced at our annual Green Gala event in October.

Encourage other businesses to join! Help us to achieve our goal of 100 participating businesses this year by telling other local business about the GBC. Referring others can even earn you a few points on the scorecard!

All Loudoun County businesses are eligible

Any business, non-profit or association whose operations reside in Loudoun County is eligible to fill out the scorecard and participate in the Challenge. Achievement awards will be based on business size (small, medium, or large business) and the total number of points earned.
